ARTIST SERIES SOAP-MAKING WORKSHOP- EMILY CARR (INTERMEDIATE 16+) | Victoria, BC

Inspired by the work of Emily Carr, this soap-making workshop invites you to explore colour, movement, and mood through the lens of the West Coast landscape.

In this hands-on class, you’ll create a batch of cold-process soap using flowing, abstract techniques that echo Carr’s painterly style—layered blues, misty whites, earthy neutrals, and intuitive swirls that feel organic rather than controlled. The focus is on expression over precision, allowing the soap to come together naturally, much like a brushstroke responding to land, sea, and sky.

We’ll guide you through scent selection, colour blending, and pouring techniques that create depth and movement, resulting in soaps that feel atmospheric, grounded, and deeply connected to place. Each bar will be unique, reflecting both the landscape and your own creative hand.

This workshop is intended for intermediate soap-makers who have completed the beginner soap-making workshop, and is as much about slowing down and creating thoughtfully as it is about learning soap-making techniques.
