Sterling Silver Mica

A shimmering silver mica with a polished metallic look and subtle sparkle as it catches the light. Sterling Silver is a versatile cosmetic colourant for soap making, bath products and other DIY creations.

In clear melt & pour soap it produces a brighter, more reflective silver; in opaque bases and cold process soap, expect a softer silver-grey rather than a chrome-like metallic finish. It is stable in cold process soap and does not migrate or fade under UV according to the manufacturer’s testing. 

How to Use

Cold Process Soap: Start around 1–2 tsp per lb of soap, adjusting for your desired shade. Pre-disperse the mica in a small amount of liquid oil before adding it to your soap batter for smooth, even colour. The manufacturer suggests starting at 2 tsp/lb. 

Melt & Pour Soap: Mix directly into melted soap or pre-disperse for easier incorporation. Clear bases will give the brightest silver effect; opaque bases produce a softer pastel silver-grey.

Bath Bombs: Can be used for colour and shimmer. We recommend using Polysorbate 80 to help disperse mica through the bath water and reduce colour sticking to the tub.
